A group of over 600 Google employees has signed a letter to CEO Sundar Pichai, urging him to prevent the Pentagon from using the company’s AI models for classified purposes.
The letter, which includes signatures from more than 20 principals, directors, and vice presidents, emphasizes the need for Google to reject any classified workloads to avoid being associated with potential harms.
The move comes as concerns grow about the use of AI in military applications, with some employees arguing that such uses could occur without their knowledge or ability to stop them.
