The automotive design landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the integration of advanced technologies such as 3D visualization tools and VR sculpting platforms. Despite these advancements, the traditional design process still begins with a sketch, which then undergoes numerous iterations and refinements before being manually converted into a 3D model. This labor-intensive process can take five years or more, meaning that many cars currently available in dealerships were first conceptualized in 2020 or 2021, when alternative fuel incentives were more widespread.
However, with the emergence of AI-designed cars, the industry is poised for a radical shift. By leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, designers can now create and refine car designs at an unprecedented pace, reducing the time and effort required to bring a new vehicle to market.
