AT&T is piloting an innovative AI-driven call screening tool designed to significantly reduce the nuisance of spam calls for its users. This ‘digital receptionist’ leverages artificial intelligence to analyze incoming calls, filtering out suspected robocalls by referencing user call history and network information. Unlike existing call screening features, AT&T’s system uses network data to assess caller frequency, providing a more sophisticated approach to identifying potential spam. The AI assistant can also request caller information and take messages, giving users greater control over their incoming calls. Users can further customize the experience by creating a ‘Do Not Screen’ list for trusted contacts. A real-time transcript of the AI’s interaction with the caller is conveniently available within the AT&T app.
