A $1 million prize has been launched by the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative, challenging researchers to develop cutting-edge AI tools capable of autonomously driving progress in Alzheimer’s research. The initiative specifically seeks ‘agentic AI,’ which goes beyond passive analysis to actively plan and execute research, harmonize complex datasets, pinpoint potential therapeutic targets, and even design clinical trials. With Alzheimer’s cases projected to skyrocket to 150 million by 2050, this prize aims to accelerate the search for effective treatments and cures. The winning AI solution will be made freely accessible through the AD Workbench platform. Applications are open as of August 19, 2025, and finalists will present their work at future conferences. The information was first shared on the Reddit community r/artificial.
