Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is stepping off the court and into a new role as a “performance advisor” for Google. This multi-year partnership will see Curry leverage his athletic expertise to refine Google’s hardware, software, and AI-driven health initiatives. Specifically, he’ll be instrumental in shaping Fitbit’s upcoming Gemini-powered personal health coach, offering feedback and insights on its features. Google aims to tap into Curry’s “coaching methods and philosophies” to personalize workout routines and tailor metric targets within the Fitbit app, making it more effective for users. Rick Osterloh, Google’s platforms and devices chief, emphasizes that the collaboration will demonstrate how Google’s AI and products can empower individuals to lead healthier lives. Beyond Fitbit, Curry will integrate Google’s hardware ecosystem, including Pixel devices, smartwatches, and earbuds, into his daily routine and incorporate Google Cloud’s AI Basketball Coach into his student training programs. The partnership is expected to involve branded content and, more importantly, yield significant improvements to Google’s products based on Curry’s expert guidance.
