Nvidia is significantly boosting its GeForce Now cloud gaming service, empowering subscribers with RTX 5080-equivalent performance powered by the new Blackwell GPU architecture. For a $20 monthly fee, users gain access to 48GB of memory and DLSS 4 capabilities, unlocking high-fidelity streaming to a wide range of devices. A game-changing feature, “Install-to-Play,” dramatically broadens the game library. This allows users to install and play games directly from platforms like Steam Cloud Play, circumventing Nvidia’s previous curated selection and potentially doubling the available titles. While compatibility depends on individual game support for Steam Cloud Play, this move unlocks a vast catalog of potential gaming experiences. Furthermore, GeForce Now users can anticipate enhanced visuals with 5K resolution streaming at 120fps, or ultra-smooth 360fps gameplay at 1080p. An optional Cinematic Quality Streaming mode promises even richer visual fidelity. The service also boasts optimized support for Steam Deck OLED, enabling gaming at its native 90Hz refresh rate, alongside compatibility with Logitech racing wheels and haptic feedback. Nvidia is also exploring deeper integration with Discord, enabling instant game trials without requiring a GeForce Now login, offering a frictionless entry point for new players. Epic Games and Discord are showcasing this technology at Gamescom. This overhaul positions GeForce Now as a leading force in cloud gaming, blurring the lines between local hardware and cloud accessibility.
