Figma’s ambitious venture into AI-assisted development, Figma Make, is now generally available, empowering users of all skill levels to create apps and prototypes with simple natural language prompts. This tool, positioning itself alongside competitors like Google’s Gemini Code Assist and Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot, seeks to lower the barrier to entry for app development. While publishing capabilities are exclusive to ‘Full Seat’ users, Figma Make’s accessibility extends to ‘View’, ‘Collab’, ‘Dev’, and even free ‘Starter Seat’ plans for experimentation within personal drafts. A standout feature is the ability to incorporate design references, enabling users to guide the AI by uploading images or existing Figma designs. To manage AI resource allocation, Figma is also rolling out an AI credit system.
