IBM is targeting increased enterprise AI adoption with its new Power11 servers, emphasizing robust reliability alongside AI acceleration. Designed for mission-critical applications, the Power11 system boasts a ‘99.9999% uptime’ guarantee, aiming for less than 32 seconds of unplanned downtime annually. This impressive reliability is achieved through features that allow for system maintenance, updates, and patching without interrupting application execution. The servers also incorporate on-chip acceleration for AI inference tasks and will be compatible with IBM’s future Spyre Accelerator. Beyond performance and energy efficiency improvements, the Power11 incorporates the IBM Power Cyber Vault solution to proactively address enterprise cybersecurity concerns. IBM plans to extend the Power11 capabilities further by making watsonx.data available on the platform by the end of 2025.
