Anthropic, the AI company, is set to face a class-action lawsuit brought by authors alleging copyright infringement. A federal judge has granted permission for the suit to proceed, representing U.S. writers who claim their copyrighted works were illegally downloaded and used to train Anthropic’s AI models. The lawsuit alleges that Anthropic built its business on millions of illegally obtained books. This follows an initial complaint filed last August and a separate lawsuit from Reddit.
