Yarbo Patches Robot Lawn Mower Security Vulnerability with Planned Backdoor Removal

Yarbo, the manufacturer of a robot lawn mower that sparked security concerns, has announced plans to remove an intentional backdoor from its device. This backdoor, which enabled remote access, will be completely eliminated, giving customers the option to choose whether to install the feature at all.

The decision to remove the backdoor follows a demonstration by security researcher Andreas Makris, who showed that the robot could be hijacked and sensitive information, including email addresses and GPS locations, could be accessed. Having previously committed to addressing security issues, Yarbo’s move marks a significant step towards enhancing the safety and security of its product.
