Broadcom’s VMware is pushing into the artificial intelligence arena, declaring its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform “AI native.” This move comes as the company navigates some turbulence following licensing policy changes implemented after Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware in November 2023.

VMware Private AI Services, slated for release with VCF 9 subscriptions next year, aims to provide a comprehensive suite of tools for building and deploying AI on-premises or in environments outside of major hyperscale cloud providers. This offering seeks to empower organizations to leverage AI capabilities within their own data centers.

In addition to its AI focus, VMware announced enhancements to its Tanzu Platform. These include streamlined publishing of MCP servers and the introduction of Tanzu Data Intelligence, a new data lakehouse solution. To further enhance customer support, VMware is also launching Intelligent Assist for VCF, an AI-powered chatbot that provides access to VMware’s extensive knowledgebase to assist with issue resolution.
