The Browser Company is shifting gears, putting new feature development for its Arc browser on hold to fully concentrate on its upcoming AI-powered browser, Dia. While Arc users can still expect to receive critical security updates and bug fixes, the company is prioritizing Dia, citing Arc’s growing complexity and instability, alongside a strategic move towards an AI-centric user experience. CEO Josh Miller underscored security as a key factor, revealing an expansion of the security engineering team after a vulnerability was identified last year. The company clarified that Arc will not be open-sourced or sold, due to its shared infrastructure with Dia, but expressed hope to revisit this decision in the future, contingent on addressing outstanding security concerns.
