Sonos is boosting its smart home game. Sonos Voice Control, the company’s voice assistant launched in 2022, is set to integrate with Philips Hue by year’s end, expanding its capabilities beyond music. This marks the first time Sonos Voice Control will work with a third-party smart home ecosystem. The integration will allow users to control their Philips Hue lights using voice commands, likely including turning lights on and off, adjusting brightness levels, and activating pre-set scenes. Sonos has been emphasizing privacy with its voice assistant, leveraging technology from its 2019 acquisition of Snips, a private-by-design AI voice platform that prioritizes local processing. Further details about the Philips Hue integration are expected to be revealed at a media event in September.
