The escalating price of RAM is impacting the prebuilt PC market, forcing manufacturers to adjust pricing and consider inventory strategies. CyberPowerPC has already implemented price increases, effective December 7th, attributing the change to a dramatic 500% increase in RAM costs since October 1st, alongside a 100% rise in SSD prices.

Maingear is working to absorb the higher costs for now, but anticipates potential stock shortages and longer lead times for customers. This surge in RAM prices is largely driven by increased demand from AI companies building out data centers.

While CyberPowerPC believes the price hikes are temporary, Maingear is advising customers to consider purchasing memory and storage upgrades sooner rather than later. Skytech Gaming is also reporting similar challenges with rising RAM prices, indicating a widespread impact across the prebuilt PC industry.
