Qualcomm has unveiled its latest innovation, the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, a high-performance processor tailored for next-generation wearable AI devices. The Elite chip is positioned as a ‘wrist plus’ solution, indicating it will complement the existing W5 Plus, rather than serving as a replacement.
This new chip is anticipated to attract manufacturers aiming to develop pioneering AI-infused wearables, including pendants, brooches, and potentially smart glasses without displays. For more sophisticated smart glasses, Qualcomm’s augmented reality (AR) chip is likely to be the preferred choice.
The Snapdragon Wear Elite boasts several notable enhancements, including a state-of-the-art 3nm process, an enhanced eNPU, and a Hexagon NPU, all of which contribute to significantly improved AI processing capabilities.
