Opera has unveiled Opera Neon, an innovative “agentic browser” that utilizes AI agents to automate a wide range of online tasks. This new browser aims to empower users by handling research, building, and design processes autonomously.

Opera states that Neon interprets user requests and leverages cloud-based AI agents to execute them efficiently. The browser is capable of generating games, reports, code snippets, and even entire websites, functioning even when the user is offline. The underlying AI engine is designed to understand complex instructions and produce relevant content with the aid of these cloud-based agents.

Opera Neon enters a market already seeing similar AI-powered tools like Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s Operator. It features a chatbot interface enabling users to conduct web searches, get answers to their questions, and access contextual information from web pages. Opera’s previously introduced Browser Operator automates routine tasks such as online shopping and form filling, prioritizing user privacy through local webpage interaction.

Specific details regarding Opera Neon, the fifth browser in Opera’s portfolio, are still scarce. A beta release date and subscription pricing have yet to be disclosed. Interested users can currently join the waitlist on Opera’s official website.
