In a strategic move to fortify its Applications division, OpenAI has acquired product analytics platform Statsig for a reported $1.1 billion. The acquisition accompanies a series of executive role adjustments aimed at streamlining operations and accelerating innovation. Fidji Simo, recently appointed CEO of Applications, will oversee the expanded team. Vijaye Raji, Statsig’s founder and CEO, will transition to OpenAI as CTO of Applications, spearheading product engineering efforts for core offerings like ChatGPT and Codex. Further emphasizing its commitment to diverse applications of AI, OpenAI has also promoted Srinivas Narayanan to CTO of B2B Applications and Kevin Weil to VP of AI for Science.
