The National Advertising Division (NAD), a division of BBB National Programs, has challenged the accuracy of Microsoft’s advertising claims regarding the productivity benefits of Microsoft 365 Copilot. The watchdog recommends Microsoft either discontinue or revise its claims related to increased user productivity, and also provide clearer disclaimers about the limitations of the Business Chat feature. The NAD expressed concerns that Microsoft’s assertion of a majority of users experiencing heightened productivity after using Copilot lacked adequate substantiation. Further, the organization highlighted potential confusion arising from the Copilot branding being used across various Microsoft products. While Microsoft has voiced disagreement with the NAD’s findings, the company has stated its intention to refine its messaging for better clarity.
