Microsoft is making its AI-powered Copilot Chat more readily available to Microsoft 365 business users by embedding it directly into popular Office applications. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote now include a Copilot Chat sidebar, enabling users to leverage AI for tasks such as drafting documents, analyzing spreadsheets, and creating presentations. This enhanced accessibility removes the barrier of requiring a separate Microsoft 365 Copilot license for basic AI assistance.
While this complimentary version of Copilot allows for document rewriting and slide creation, users with the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license will continue to benefit from prioritized access to more advanced features. These include file uploads, image generation, future GPT-5 integration (if available), and faster response times.
This initiative builds upon Microsoft’s previous rollout of Copilot features to consumer Microsoft 365 subscribers, further democratizing access to AI tools and boosting productivity across its user base.
