Following a lawsuit settlement, Meta has named conservative activist Robby Starbuck as an advisor tasked with addressing perceived “ideological and political bias” in its AI chatbot. Starbuck, who previously sued Meta claiming its AI falsely linked him to the January 6th Capitol riot, is known for his opposition to corporate DEI initiatives. As an advisor, he will reportedly contribute to Meta’s efforts to align with President Trump’s past executive order aimed at curbing “wokeness” in AI. Meta and Starbuck jointly stated they’ve achieved considerable progress in enhancing the accuracy of Meta AI and minimizing biases. Details regarding the financial terms of the settlement remain confidential. The appointment follows previous legal challenges related to AI chatbot defamation, including a suit against OpenAI that was ultimately dismissed.
