Lego’s Smart Bricks Held Back by Technical Limitations

Lego’s inaugural Smart Brick sets, inspired by the Star Wars franchise, have failed to meet expectations due to programming issues and technical constraints. A significant limitation is the non-replaceable batteries in these Smart Bricks. Additionally, several key sensors are currently unavailable, including a sound-detecting microphone, ambient light sensor, fine distance measurement, position, and orientation sensors.

According to Elysha Zaide, sound designer for Lego Smart Bricks, some of these missing sensors will be integrated into future products, including ambient light, position, and orientation sensors, which are not enabled in the initial sets.
