Journalist Takes Grammarly to Court Over Unauthorized AI Persona

A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Grammarly by journalist Julia Angwin, alleging the company used her likeness without permission in its ‘Expert Review’ AI feature.

Angwin’s identity, along with those of other journalists, was used to provide AI suggestions, raising concerns over privacy and publicity rights.

The lawsuit claims Grammarly violated laws against using someone’s identity for commercial purposes without consent, and Angwin is seeking action on behalf of herself and others whose identities were used.
