Google is developing a new operating system, internally known as ‘Aluminium OS’ (ALOS), designed with artificial intelligence as a fundamental component. This ambitious project aims to create a unified platform, potentially integrating the best features of both Android and ChromeOS. Some reports suggest ‘Aluminium OS’ could eventually supersede ChromeOS. The project is envisioned to support a diverse range of devices, including laptops, detachables, tablets, and boxes, catering to various price points.
Based on Android, ‘Aluminium OS’ is intended to power devices across a spectrum, from budget-friendly options to high-end models. This initiative represents Google’s ongoing exploration of bringing the Android ecosystem to personal computers. Android Authority’s initial discovery of a relevant job posting highlighted confirmation from Android head Sameer Samat regarding plans to merge Chrome OS and Android into a single operating system slated for release next year.
