Google’s AI-powered search experience is now available in 180 countries and territories, significantly expanding beyond its initial launch in the US, UK, and India. This AI Mode offers a more conversational, chatbot-style search interface, currently in English only.
Adding to this global rollout, Google is introducing agentic capabilities, starting with the ability to book restaurant reservations. Google AI Ultra subscribers can instruct AI Mode to handle bookings by specifying details like date, time, location, party size, and cuisine. AI Mode will then scour reservation platforms and websites, presenting a list of suitable restaurants and available slots. Users simply select their preference and are directed to the booking page.
This feature is powered by partnerships with platforms including OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy. Subscribers can enable the ‘Agentic capabilities in AI Mode’ experiment within Labs to try it out.
Additionally, US users participating in the AI Mode experiment will see more personalized responses. Focusing initially on dining, AI Mode will leverage previous conversations and search history to offer more relevant recommendations. For example, prior searches for Italian restaurants or vegan options will inform future lunch suggestions. US users can also now share their AI Mode results via a shareable link.
