Google is rolling out Web Guide, a new feature that utilizes artificial intelligence to revolutionize how search results are presented. Powered by a custom-built version of the Gemini AI model, Web Guide aims to move beyond the traditional list of links by intelligently grouping and summarizing information. The feature employs a ‘query fanout technique,’ similar to Google’s AI Mode, to break down complex queries into multiple sub-searches, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Available to Search Labs users who opt-in, Web Guide categorizes results with AI-generated summaries for quick insights. Leveraging its expansive data resources, including content from YouTube, Quora, and Reddit (thanks in part to a $60 million annual partnership with Reddit), Web Guide provides a richer and more organized search experience. Users can now test Web Guide by activating it within Search Labs.
