Google’s Gemini is becoming a more proactive AI assistant with the introduction of ‘scheduled actions’. Available to Gemini Advanced (formerly AI Pro and AI Ultra) subscribers, this new feature enables users to schedule tasks for Gemini to execute at specific times or intervals.

Imagine Gemini summarizing your daily calendar each morning or generating blog post ideas every week – now it’s possible. Users can also schedule one-time tasks, like summarizing an award show the day after it airs. According to Google, this enhancement aims to make Gemini a more helpful and less reactive assistant.

Scheduled tasks can be managed within the Gemini app’s settings, under a dedicated ‘scheduled actions’ page. This update puts Gemini on par with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which also offers similar scheduling functionality for reminders and recurring tasks. This feature, initially previewed in April, is a key step in Google’s vision of making Gemini a truly agent-like AI.
