Dolby has unveiled Dolby Vision 2, a next-generation HDR technology incorporating artificial intelligence to optimize the viewing experience. Building upon Dolby Vision IQ, the new “Content Intelligence” tools analyze viewing conditions and device capabilities to deliver the best possible picture. Dolby Vision 2 introduces Precision Black for improved clarity in dark scenes and Light Sense, which dynamically adjusts picture quality based on ambient light. A key addition is ‘Authentic Motion,’ a creative-driven motion control system designed to minimize unwanted judder and preserve artistic intent. Hisense will be the first manufacturer to release televisions featuring Dolby Vision 2, utilizing MediaTek’s Pentonic 800 chip. While existing Dolby Vision content will remain compatible with older TVs, the full benefits of the new metadata will only be realized on Dolby Vision 2-enabled displays. Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two tiers: Dolby Vision 2 Max and standard Dolby Vision 2.
