Google DeepMind has strategically onboarded significant talent from Windsurf following the dissolution of a planned acquisition by OpenAI. Varun Mohan, CEO of Windsurf, alongside co-founder Douglas Chen and a team of research and development specialists, are now integrated into DeepMind’s operations. Their primary focus will be accelerating agentic coding initiatives, especially those pertaining to the Gemini project. In the wake of this shift, Jeff Wang, formerly head of business at Windsurf, will step in as interim CEO, while Graham Moreno ascends to the role of president.
