Anthropic is boosting Claude’s workplace prowess with ‘Skills,’ a new feature designed to streamline AI-assisted workflows. These Skills function as customizable toolkits, bundling instructions, scripts, and resources to enhance Claude’s abilities in specific tasks, from Excel manipulation to brand guideline adherence. Users can build bespoke Skills tailored to individual roles and deploy them across various Claude platforms, including Claude.ai, Claude Code, Anthropic’s API, and the Claude Agent SDK. Early adopters include Box, Rakuten, and Canva. Anthropic aims to reduce reliance on complex prompting by equipping Claude with pre-loaded knowledge. According to Brad Abrams of Anthropic, Skills empower organizations to effectively train Claude within their unique operational environments. This launch mirrors the broader trend of AI developers focusing on practical AI agents for both consumers and professionals. OpenAI is also developing similar tools, like AgentKit and custom agents used by companies such as Albertsons, along with the option to integrate apps within ChatGPT, underscoring the industry’s shift towards more versatile AI applications.
