Anthropic is leveling up Claude’s capabilities with the launch of ‘Integrations,’ a feature that allows the AI assistant to connect directly with a suite of popular work applications. Paired with an enhanced ‘Advanced Research’ mode, these updates aim to make Claude a more deeply integrated and useful tool for professionals.
The ‘Integrations’ feature leverages Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) to streamline the process of securely linking Claude with both web and desktop applications. A growing list of supported applications includes Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, Zapier, Cloudflare, Intercom, Asana, Square, Sentry, PayPal, Linear, and Plaid, with Stripe and GitLab integrations on the horizon. This connectivity provides Claude with vital context, enabling it to better understand project timelines, task statuses, and broader organizational knowledge bases.
According to Anthropic, connecting work tools to Claude enables it to “gain deep context about your work…and can take actions across every surface.” For instance, integrating with Zapier opens up access to thousands of applications, allowing users to trigger complex, multi-step workflows through conversational prompts. The Jira and Confluence integrations allow Claude to draft product specifications, summarize lengthy documents, and automatically generate Jira tickets. When connected to Intercom, Claude can collaborate with Intercom’s Fin AI assistant to automatically create bug reports or analyze customer interactions.
Developers can create custom integrations with Claude in as little as 30 minutes, facilitating connections to internal systems and niche software solutions. Simultaneously, Anthropic has bolstered Claude’s research abilities with the ‘Advanced Research’ mode. This feature dissects complex requests into smaller, more manageable segments, systematically investigating each element using web resources, Google Docs, and connected applications before synthesizing a comprehensive report. While these reports may require up to 45 minutes to generate, they are designed to provide reliable and well-sourced information with direct links to the original data.
Both Integrations and Advanced Research are currently in beta, available to users on Anthropic’s Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, with Pro plan access slated to follow. The standard web search functionality is now universally available across all paid Claude.ai subscription tiers. These advancements underscore Anthropic’s dedication to establishing Claude as a crucial and indispensable asset in professional workflows.
