Google Chrome is set to roll out a new feature that streamlines password management by automatically updating weak or compromised credentials. Upon detecting a vulnerable password during login, Google Password Manager will present users with the option to initiate an automatic fix.
For participating websites, Chrome will generate a robust, secure replacement and seamlessly update the password on the user’s behalf. Google’s announcement is intended to give developers advance notice to optimize their websites and applications for this upcoming change. User consent remains paramount; Chrome will not alter any password without explicit authorization. This automated password update aims to bolster online security while simultaneously improving the user experience.
