Bird Buddy, the company renowned for its AI-driven bird feeders, is expanding its horizons with the introduction of the Petal camera and Wonder Blocks, designed to observe and nurture a wider variety of wildlife. The Petal camera, first showcased at CES 2025 and now available for pre-order via Kickstarter, features a 12MP sensor and leverages artificial intelligence to identify over 2,000 different species of birds, bees, butterflies, insects, and plants. Priced at $129 for a single unit or $249 for a Duo Pack, it captures 4K video and offers interchangeable lenses for both wide-angle and macro photography. A standout feature is its impressive battery life, lasting up to a month on a single charge, and potentially indefinitely with the included solar panel. Users can access real-time footage and AI-generated documentaries reminiscent of ‘BBC Earth’ productions through the dedicated mobile app. Complementing the camera is the Wonder Blocks system, a modular habitat solution designed to attract pollinators. The central component is the $149 Habitat smart planter, which can be expanded with specialized modules for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Comprehensive bundles, such as the $299 Wonder Blocks set (including one Petal camera) and the $499 Wonder Blocks Hero set (featuring two cameras and various attachments), offer extensive support for attracting and monitoring wildlife. A dedicated Wonder App is also under development. Bird Buddy envisions the Petal and Wonder Blocks as integral components of a larger ‘nature tech ecosystem,’ with future integration planned between these new offerings and the company’s existing smart bird feeders. Shipping is anticipated to begin in mid-2026.
