Dine Brands, parent company to restaurant giants Applebee’s and IHOP, is set to leverage the power of artificial intelligence to create more personalized dining experiences. The company plans to introduce an AI-powered “personalization engine” designed to offer tailored recommendations and exclusive deals to customers. This system will analyze past purchase history and aggregate data from similar customers to suggest relevant menu items and promotions, ultimately aiming to boost customer loyalty and drive sales through targeted upselling.

Applebee’s and IHOP are not alone in exploring AI solutions within the restaurant industry. Wendy’s has already deployed AI chatbots at its drive-thrus for order-taking and upselling. McDonald’s is also reinvigorating its AI efforts for both drive-thru and in-restaurant environments. Taco Bell is currently testing “Voice AI” technology at a significant number of its drive-thru locations. Dine Brands is also considering extending AI’s reach to staff applications, exploring AI-powered cameras to monitor table cleanliness and an AI application to assist managers with their duties.
