Apple HomeKit Upgrade Deadline Approaches: Ensure Seamless Smart Home Functionality

Attention all Apple smart home users: if you haven’t updated to the new Apple Home, your devices may stop working in the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch starting February 10, 2026. This is because Apple will be ending support for the original HomeKit architecture, moving to a new system that requires a HomePod or Apple TV as a hub.

The change will have the biggest impact on those still using an iPad as their Apple Home Hub, as iPads will no longer be supported in this role. To continue controlling devices remotely and creating automations, users will need to switch to a HomePod or Apple TV.

Additionally, the new architecture requires all connected devices, including phones, to be running iOS 16 or later. If you haven’t already, it’s time to upgrade to ensure seamless smart home functionality.
