AMD is broadening the availability of its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4 technology, bringing AI-powered upscaling and frame generation to a wider selection of games. Building upon the foundation of FSR 3.1 and leveraging DirectX 12, FSR 4 aims to deliver enhanced performance and visual fidelity. Initially introduced with the RX 9000-series graphics cards in March, FSR 4 is being touted as a direct competitor to Nvidia’s DLSS 4. AMD emphasizes FSR 4’s use of machine learning to intelligently reconstruct images from lower resolutions, minimizing performance impact while maximizing visual clarity. A recent driver update officially enables FSR 4 support in over 85 titles. For titles already supporting FSR 3.1, users can manually activate FSR 4 through a toggle in the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition application. Notable games like Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, and F1 25 are among the first to incorporate FSR 4.
