Amazon is equipping its delivery drivers with a new tool: “Amelia” smart glasses. These innovative glasses are designed to streamline the delivery process, featuring an integrated display and camera to provide hands-free assistance. Drivers can use Amelia to easily locate packages within their vehicles, receive turn-by-turn navigation, and capture proof-of-delivery photos, eliminating the need for multiple devices.

According to Amazon, Amelia is particularly helpful in navigating complex environments, such as apartment complexes. The smart glasses are paired with a specialized vest that houses a replaceable battery and a dedicated button for quickly taking delivery photos. The company anticipates future iterations of the glasses will leverage AI to offer advanced features like real-time defect detection and hazard alerts, such as identifying pets in the delivery zone.

Amazon reports that hundreds of drivers have already participated in trials of early Amelia models, suggesting a broad deployment of the smart glasses is imminent.
