Yann LeCun, the former Chief AI Scientist at Meta and a Turing Award recipient, has embarked on a new venture, launching his own AI startup after a twelve-year tenure at the social media giant. The new company will focus on developing advanced AI systems grounded in the physical world through “world models,” a different approach compared to the prevailing trend of large generative models. LeCun emphasizes that Meta is a partner in the undertaking but not an investor.
