In a significant advancement for the field of scientific research, a recent study has shown that the open-source AI model OpenScholar can synthesize research and cite sources with the same level of accuracy as human experts.

This achievement marks a major milestone, as OpenScholar outperformed other AI models, including GPT-4o, in a benchmark test, demonstrating its potential to transform the way research is conducted and presented.

Notably, scientists preferred OpenScholar’s outputs in 51% of cases, underscoring its capabilities and paving the way for further innovation.

Building on this success, the research team is currently developing a follow-up model, DR Tulu, aimed at enhancing OpenScholar’s capabilities and pushing the boundaries of AI-driven scientific research.
