Linux founder Linus Torvalds has expressed concerns that the Linux security list is becoming increasingly unmanageable due to a flood of bug reports generated by artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
In his recent state of the kernel post, Torvalds noted that the high volume of AI-generated reports has led to significant duplication, with multiple individuals identifying the same issues using the same tools.
While AI has been helpful in detecting certain vulnerabilities, such as the Copy Fail exploit that affected nearly every Linux distribution, Torvalds emphasized that the likelihood of duplicate discoveries is high.
The documentation may be a bit less blunt than I am, Torvalds said, so just to make it really clear: if you found a bug using AI tools, the chances are somebody else found it too.
