Microsoft is rolling out a significant update to Windows 11 Copilot, bringing AI-powered file and image search capabilities directly to the application. This update, currently being tested by Windows Insiders on Copilot Plus PCs, allows users to leverage natural language when searching for files, moving beyond traditional filename or file type searches. For example, users can now ask Copilot to ‘find the file with the chicken tostada recipe.’ This advancement expands upon the initial launch of AI-driven Windows search on Copilot Plus PCs.
Beyond improved search, Microsoft is also experimenting with a redesigned Copilot home experience, prioritizing recent apps, files, and conversations for easier access. Furthermore, Copilot can now initiate a Vision session, analyze the user’s screen, and provide step-by-step guidance within an application when selected from the “get guided help” section. Users can also upload images directly to Copilot and request information about them from the AI assistant.
These features are being gradually released to all Insider channels through updates via the Microsoft Store, allowing users to experience the power of AI-enhanced search and assistance within Windows 11.
