Adobe is intensifying its focus on AI-driven creative solutions, unveiling Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra, designed to elevate image generation within its Creative Cloud suite. Alongside these advancements, a range of updates are being implemented across applications like Photoshop and Illustrator, seamlessly integrating AI into creative workflows.
Firefly Image Model 4 caters to diverse user needs, offering a balance between speed and detailed realism, with the capability to produce images up to 2K resolution. For scenarios demanding intricate detail and enhanced realism, Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra offers advanced rendering capabilities. Both models are immediately available through the Firefly web application, complementing Adobe’s existing text-to-video and text-to-vector AI tools.
Expanding its generative AI offerings, Adobe is introducing Firefly Boards in public beta, a collaborative moodboarding application reminiscent of FigJam. Additionally, a dedicated Firefly mobile app is under development for both iOS and Android platforms.
A noteworthy development is the integration of third-party AI models within the Firefly web app. Users can now explore OpenAI’s GPT image model, Google’s Imagen 3 for image generation, and Google’s Veo 2 for video creation. Future support is planned for AI models from Luma, Pika, Runway, fal.ai, and Ideogram. Adobe clarifies that these external models are primarily for experimental use, while its proprietary Firefly models are tailored for commercial applications, having been trained on licensed content to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
Beyond the Firefly ecosystem, Adobe is enhancing its core Creative Cloud suite. Illustrator now boasts generally available generative shape fill and text-to-pattern capabilities. Photoshop benefits from improvements in color adjustments and automated selection of intricate elements such as hair and clothing. Furthermore, the Actions panel in Photoshop will offer editing recommendations tailored to a user’s stylistic preferences, hinting at Adobe’s broader vision of incorporating a sophisticated creative AI agent within the platform.
