Thailand is now among the first Asian nations to experience the power of OpenAI’s Sora, the revolutionary AI video generation app. This expansion promises to unlock new avenues for visual storytelling within the region. Joining Thailand are Vietnam and Taiwan, following initial launches in the US and Canada. The app’s popularity has surged, achieving one million downloads in less than five days, surpassing even ChatGPT’s initial adoption rate.

Thai users can readily download the iOS app without needing an invitation. The Sora app boasts Thai language support and leverages Sora 2, OpenAI’s advanced video model capable of generating entirely new clips, remixing existing content, and providing personalized content suggestions via a tailored feed. The ‘Cameos’ feature stands out, allowing users to seamlessly integrate themselves into scenes. ‘Character Cameos’ takes this further, enabling the creation of reusable characters from almost anything, with granular permission controls separate from personal likeness. A Halloween-themed starter pack is planned, featuring iconic characters like Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster.

OpenAI emphasizes its commitment to a responsible rollout of Sora in Thailand. All Sora-generated videos will include both visible and invisible watermarks to ensure transparency. Teen users will have daily limits on the number of generated videos in their feeds, and stricter guidelines will govern Cameos for this demographic. Robust safety systems are in place, and parents can utilize ChatGPT-powered controls to manage feed limits and direct messaging settings, creating a safe and controlled environment for younger users.
