Microsoft is rolling out significant updates to its Copilot AI assistant, focusing on enhanced engagement and collaborative capabilities. A key addition is Copilot Groups, a feature designed to facilitate AI interaction within groups of up to 32 users. This aims to make AI a more social and interactive experience for friends, classmates, or even work teams.

Beyond group functionality, Microsoft is introducing an optional “real talk” mode. This mode allows Copilot to adapt its responses to match the user’s tone, providing more insightful and even witty answers. According to Jacob Andreou, this mode will also leverage improvements in Copilot’s memory features and allow users to control what personal information Copilot retains.

Microsoft is also refining Copilot’s health-related responses, ensuring that it sources information from credible sources like Harvard Health. Further enhancing Copilot’s personality, the company is introducing Mico, a new character reminiscent of Clippy, that will feature real-time expressions and animations within the Copilot interface.
