Pinterest is empowering users to customize their feeds with a new tool designed to manage the presence of AI-generated content. The ‘tuner’ feature allows users to fine-tune their recommendations within specific categories, such as beauty, art, fashion, and home decor, indicating whether they prefer to see more or less AI-generated images.
While Pinterest acknowledges the increasing presence of AI in content creation, it clarifies that the ‘tuner’ won’t eliminate AI-generated pins entirely. The tool applies only to ‘eligible image Pins’ within the selected categories. Users can access the ‘tuner’ through Pinterest’s settings under ‘refine your recommendations’ within the ‘GenAI interests’ tab.
The feature is currently available for Android and desktop users, with iPhone users expected to gain access in the coming weeks. This development follows Pinterest’s earlier initiative in May to label AI-generated pins with an automated ‘AI modified’ tag. The company also continues to refine its AI detection capabilities to enhance the visibility of these labels and ensure transparency for its user base.
