Meta’s Threads is rolling out a new ‘Communities’ feature, currently in testing, aimed at creating dedicated spaces for users with shared interests. Available on both web and mobile platforms, these communities will allow users to discover content and posts centered around specific topics like professional basketball, K-pop, books, TV shows, and AI.

Much like subreddits on Reddit or communities on X, Threads users can join multiple communities and access tailored feeds for each. Membership will be displayed on user profiles, and community posts can be pinned to the feeds menu for easy access. This feature expands Threads’ current offerings, which include topics and custom feeds. Each community will also feature a unique custom emoji for the ‘like’ button.

Looking ahead, Threads intends to introduce additional community-focused features, such as badges for active members, and to improve the ranking of posts within communities and the ‘For You’ feed to prioritize relevance.
