Google’s NotebookLM has just launched Video Overviews, a groundbreaking feature leveraging artificial intelligence to transform user documents into engaging narrated slideshows. Currently available in English, with expansion to other languages on the horizon, Video Overviews offer a visually rich alternative to traditional Audio Overviews.

Using AI, NotebookLM extracts key visuals, diagrams, compelling quotes, and essential numerical data from user-provided documents. This information is then synthesized into a dynamic slideshow designed to effectively explain complex data, illustrate intricate processes, and clarify abstract concepts.

Google envisions expanding the range of output formats further down the line. The new Video Overviews feature offers user-friendly playback controls, including forward and backward skipping, as well as adjustable playback speed. A revamped Studio tab in NotebookLM now allows users to create and store multiple outputs, such as Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, Mind Maps, and Reports, within a unified notebook interface. This enhanced Studio functionality is scheduled to be rolled out to all NotebookLM users in the coming weeks.
