Google is experimenting with Doppl, a new app leveraging artificial intelligence to visualize users in different outfits. By uploading a full-body image and a screenshot of the garment they want to try, users can see themselves wearing the item in a digitally generated image or video. The process is straightforward, but the AI occasionally produces unexpected results, such as mismatched pieces or adding phantom shoes. Google has implemented safety measures to prevent the upload of inappropriate attire or images of public figures. Despite these safeguards, Doppl sometimes alters the user’s physique, occasionally making them appear thinner. While Google already provides a basic virtual try-on feature within its search engine, Doppl offers a more sophisticated experience. Users can experiment with clothing from diverse sources and create short videos showcasing the virtual outfits. Doppl is currently available for download on both Android and iOS devices.
