ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular chatbot, experienced widespread outages early Tuesday, leaving many users unable to access the service. Reports flooded social media platforms like X and Reddit, with users reporting error messages and sluggish performance. Downdetector data confirmed a surge in reported issues across multiple regions globally.

OpenAI acknowledged the problems on its status page, citing elevated error rates and latency impacting not only ChatGPT but also its Sora text-to-video AI tool and OpenAI APIs. While some users managed to connect to ChatGPT, others experienced significant delays or were completely blocked.

OpenAI has stated that it is actively investigating the cause of the disruption but has not yet provided an estimated time for full service restoration.
