Meta is dramatically scaling up its use of artificial intelligence to automate the majority of its product risk assessments, aiming for a 90% automation rate. This initiative, impacting platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, seeks to optimize the process of identifying potential harms and privacy implications related to new product features and updates. The move is partly driven by a 2012 agreement with the Federal Trade Commission, which requires Meta to conduct thorough risk assessments.
