Google is rolling out a major Gmail update for Android and iOS, focusing on improved tablet experiences, a refreshed iOS interface, and the integration of Gemini AI capabilities. Tablet users, especially those with foldable devices, will now enjoy a dynamic split-screen layout in landscape mode. A draggable divider provides customizable pane resizing, allowing for focused single-pane viewing when needed. This tablet update is available for both Workspace and personal accounts.

iOS users are receiving a Material Design 3 overhaul, bringing Gmail’s look and feel in line with its Android and web counterparts. Expect to see pill-shaped navigation and a modern, rounded search bar. This visual refresh is also being deployed to Workspace and personal accounts.

Beyond the visual changes, iOS users can now create and edit birthday events directly within Google Calendar, bringing feature parity with the Android version. The most significant addition is the integration of Gemini AI for Workspace users. Now, both Android and iOS users can generate images directly from the Gmail sidebar and insert them into email drafts, mirroring existing functionality in the web-based Workspace suite.
